Fantastic accessory! Love how easy it is to operate the pouch with one hand. The dual zippers are great. The opening is big enough for larger items, but I like how they opening doesn’t go all the way down both sides, which would lead to items falling out when the pocket is not zippered. The re-inforced back keeps the pouch from being “floppy”. Altogether, a very well thought-out design.

Simple belt pocket. Easy to open with one hand for those times you want to take your phone out and snap a pick. Holds an iPhone and a cliff bar easy.

Have one on each side of my pack. Very easy to use and carries every thing from extra ammo, diaphragms, rangefinder, license, etc. great accessory that I highly suggest adding to your pack.

Pouch is the perfect size for my rangefinder, wind detector and several extra mouth reeds. All within easy reach and secure with the easy to use zippers.

works perfect to tote my iphone5 and a pair of reading glasses. when riding my bike in a tee its a necessity to keep it all from blowing away in the wind. the claim for one handed closure works most of the time. would buy again and highly recommend

Fits my Vortex Ranger perfectly. Most importantly the zippers work well and keep the moisture out. The pocket fits very tight to the belt so they are easy to open. Again, another must accessory for the 3500 or 5500 packs.

While I can’t imagine running my pack without these, I knocked off one star just because I’d like to see the zippers work a little more smoothly. Maybe I’m the lone idiot that can’t operate these one handed every time as others seem to not have a problem but about half the time the zippers collapse the pocket enough to catch and prevent one handed operation. They still have more structure than any other option I’ve seen out there and I love the size and organization but, for me anyway, the zippers could be a little smoother. They are the perfect size for a rangefinder, and the built in divider holds a mouth call well. Really, for me, they are probably a 4.5 star rating but I wanted to bring up my small zipper problems so I docked one star. You’ll definitely want at least one on your pack though, I can’t imagine not having them, they are just so convenient.

These are great – buy two of them! They’re a great size, stay open when unzipped, and will (critically) zip/unzip with one hand without binding.

Hip pouch is great size for keeping your loose items originated. I keep my mouth calls, wind checker, and chap stick in one pouch. My other pouch holds my Ruger .38 special by my side.

Love the pouch! Zippers are great, and easy to access. Great for carrying small items that would get lost in the bottom of a pocket

I have two of these on my hip belt! They are the perfect size and the zipper pull both ways is awesome! Its perfect for my headlamp, calls, extra batteries, etc! Works great!

  12. 5 out of 5

I love this accessory and would call it a “must have” item. I have two, one for each side of my hip belt. I carry my handheld Garmin in one and my Leica rangefinder in the other. The ease of opening and quality of the material is 1st class. Works great!

Just like the Exo-Mountain 3500 pack, this is a well designed and constructed item. I use it to hold my rangefinder and mouth calls. I like the velcro attachment system, which keeps the Hipbelt Pouch locked onto the hipbelt. The zippers are easy to operate with one hand. Another outstanding product from Exo-Mountain.

A must have for your rangefinder or whatever little goodies you need at your fingertips while packing an Exo pack!

Love the hip belt pouch. I originally bought one when I bought the pack, but as soon as they arrived I realized I made a mistake not buying two. So now that I have two I use one to carry the rangefinder and one for the rhino and elk calls. Also seemed completely water proof during some really rainy days both pouches were dry.

A must have for me, keeps the little things you need at the ready and it’s deep enough if you forget to zip it shut the items stay put. The pouch velcro’s to the belt so once it’s on it doesn’t slide around, it stays where you want it. It’s a simple product that Exo makes great.

Great accessory. I mainly bow hunt and I am able to keep my wind indicator, cow call, and range finder in my release side so I can easily access them without setting my bow down. I keep my GPS and other things I do not need while stalking. I would strongly recommend at least one if you are an avid bow hunter.

Purchased one hip belt pocket with my 3500. The zippers are great and truly can be opened with one hand, they are plenty big enough for a phone, GPS, rangefinder, and I even got my Ruger LC9s to fit in there. They stay nice and secure when trudging around and having at least one on your pack is a very, very good idea. You’ll find some use for it.

Like to see the zippers work more freely (they are not in one plane, but 2 (vertical on the ends, horizontal across the top). This is good for fitting large items in them. This is bad for attempting to close with 1 hand. IF a zipper gets too far to the end on opening it, you need two hands sometimes or a bunch of fiddling to get it closed. Works awesome once you realize the limitations. Not a good place for something you need quick (I put my SPOT locator and headlamp in mine). I got mine for FREE so cannot complain (my pack was in the very first batch of ASAT packs ever made and since that was a bit late they sent a MATCHING pocket. What company does that these days?!?

Accessory pack is a must have. It’s the perfect size for those frequently used smaller items like a bottle of wind indicator, extra calls, or just to store your headlamp for easy access in the dark.

This accessory is a must for the 3500 and large enough to fit anything I need to get at in a hurry. I usually have a cow call, pro bar, head lamp, and energy gels in mine. While I like the Velcro attachment I wish it was narrower or had Velcro the entire width so there was more adjustment up and down on the hip belt. Other than that, a great and necessary addition to any EXO pack.

I really like the pouch, like a few others I have one on either side of my waist belt. One of the better points is the rigidity that allows the zips to be operated with one hand instead of having to twist and hold the pouch edge while operating the zip as you find in a lot of other waist pouches. It would be nice to see a more vertical narrower one for GPS and radio type equipment as my GPS doesn’t quite fit and I have to use another brand which is not as good for reasons mentioned above.

Does what it is supposed to do. It holds the things I need quick access to, and it holds them where I can gain quick access to them.

I too have problems with the zippers from time to time. Not a show stopper at all though.

  24. 5 out of 5

This is by far the best hip belt pouch I have ever used. You can actually zip and unzip the pouch with one hand. The stretchy material inside that created a divider is nice for when you want to hold more than one item. I typically leave the pouch unzipped while hunting and have either my GPS or my rangefinder in the pocket on a lanyard for quick access.

  25. 5 out of 5

This one of the best pouches I’ve used on a hip belt. I love that it has a divider separating the pouch. I can put my Leica rangefinder in there and not have to worry about it rubbing against whatever I have in the other side. For those who are complaining that the zipper is still a little hard to undo, I suggest you look at other brands which don’t even hold their shape. This pouch is well thought out and about as perfect as a pouch could be.

Great addition to the pack. One hand operation and smart design. Has a nice divider for thin items and the perfect size main compartment. Not to small but not so big it is cumbersome.

Great belt pouch, stiff back allows one handed operation, Velcro back keeps it solidly in place.
Divider is great for separating items. Range finder fits perfect.

Perfect size for rangefinder, calls, and EZ loaders for my muzzy.
Also easy one hand zipper access.

This is the perfect size. It doesn’t get in the way and easily fits range finders, cell phone, extra ammunition…. Easy to open with one hand. I would recommend this to anyone who has a pack. It is a “must have”

  30. 3 out of 5

These are great for a rangefinder, GPS, etc….however they could be a little larger and the zippers abit more secure…I lost my folding skinning knife this year on my elk hunt due to a zipper snagging on brush and the knife falling out upon setting the pack down.l take full blame for this, but would like to see them a little larger.

These are little gems of pack engineering. They are easy to put on, zippers are quite and you dont need two hands to open or close them. This is an absolute must have!

  32. 4 out of 5

A must have for convenience. I gave it four stars because I’d like to see it with slightly thicker padding on the outside since you often carry electronics in them (iPhone, camera, rangefinder, etc). Really should be more like 4 & 3/4 stars…buy one regardless.

  33. 5 out of 5

There are some gear accessories that are in the “just nice to have” category and there are others that are essential. The hip belt pouch would defiantly fit into the essential category. On western elk hunts I store wind checker, 2-3 cow calls, chap stick, and face paint in the pouch. Very nice to have all these items in an accessible place without having to take your pack off or store them in pants pockets. Make sure you get at least one of these to go with your pack.

Hands down – best hip/belt pocket I’ve ever used. Easy to access with one hand why glassing or holding your bow. Stiffer housing keeps pocket structured.

  35. 5 out of 5

Simple but effective. I don’t particularly like to use a pouch on my waist belt, I just doesn’t feel comfortable for me. I like to use these as accessory pouches to sort stuff inside the bag.

I picked up a pair of the hipbelt pockets with my 5500 when I purchased it last spring. These are very lightweight (my scale said 2.6 oz/ea) and really well built. They attach very snug to the belt, but are easy to remove or relocate. The zippers are quite strong and are really easy to access. I love being able to have my keys, TP, small flashlight or headlamp, and GPS close at hand. They are also the perfect size for a small muzzleloader possibles pouch. I can easily fit a couple of speed loaders, extra caps, jag, and a couple of cleaning patches in one pouch. Another nice accessory!

This is a fantastic accessory… I typically hate belt pouches because they’re difficult to open and close with one hand.. Not this one it works perfectly for one handed operation. It’s got a stretchy material separating the pouch that holds my iPhone 6 just right and it’s got a little bit of padding on the outside to help protect whatever you decide to put in it… As soon as I post this review im ordering one for the other side of my belt.

These are nice to have but I wish Exo would just build a hip belt with pockets already attached. Most quality modern packs do this. Kind of a bummer to buy a really expensive pack and then have to spend another $40 on a feature that the rest of the pack industry has already decided is useful and worth designing into their pack. Also, once attached I feel they tend to flop around and are not particularly easy to open with one hand, though some reviewers think otherwise. Again, I’m glad these are available because they are useful but I’d prefer a more streamlined permanent pocket.

These are a great addition and a must have in my book. I love being able to stash things like my range finder or calls in them whenever needed and still have easy access.

I just want to start by saying I love exo packs. I have packed out 2 elk and a deer with the 2000 day pack and it worked great. I will never use another pack for hunting ever. These pockets are a great convenience as well for rangefinders, headlamps etc. But I used one of them for a rangefinder this season and the zipper will not zip one handed which is a big pain because I would have to put my bow down zip up the pocket and pick my bow back up. As a bow hunter I’m frequently using my rangefinder to range and glassing at close distances. I got tired of it after the first hunt and left it open but the pocket of course filled with dirt and other things so I would have to clean my lenses a lot. Great product but the zipper just needs work.

Definitely a great addition to the EXO packs. Built well. Good zippers. Good size. Wouldn’t mind an option for a couple different sizes. I use them for different items depending on the hunt I am on. Great for my phone with the phoneskope, quickloads for my muzzy, rangefinder and calls. Great EXO product!

The size and durability of the pouch itself is perfect. However, it is somewhat difficult to open and close with one hand because of how the zipper goes over and down the top/sides of the pouch. This causes the zipper to get stuck on the back side of the pouch, and unable to close with one hand, when wearing the pack. Other than this, the exo hipbelt pouch is a quality product.

I’ve been using two (2) coyote Hipbelt Pouches on my Exo 3500 since the fall of 2014. Overall I’m satisfied with the accessory. They seem to be waterproof, or at least very water resistant, having had them in the rain several times. They are appropriately sized, and will fit my Garmin GPSmap 64s, albeit snug due to the overall length of my particular GPS. Between the two pouches I am also able to store a headlamp, small camera, spare open reed elk call, spare camera batteries, compass, bino tripod adapter, and spare batteries for the headlamp and GPS. The zippers did become more difficult to open over time and became a two-handed operation this season; however, I put some zipper lubricant on the zippers a few weeks ago and they are now much easier to open/close, including one-handed. On a side note, if I’ve ever had a question concerning any Exo gear item, Steve has always responded promptly and with helpful information. I am very pleased with the overall Exo pack system.
