I received the k2 2000 bag with the intent of using it as a day pack. I have used the pack on several outings setting trail cameras and even a 3 day backpack bear hunt. I really like the simplicity of the bag with the roll top design for extending the load capability. The 2 horizontal compression straps work great for making my tripod accessible. It also has an outer stretchy pocket, inside organizational pocket and a hidden inside pocket that is accessible from the outside. It has a protective sleeve for carrying my hydration bladder and 2 outside water bottle pockets. I’d recommend this bag to any Hunter looking for a pack for a day hunt, or a multi day backpack trip. It really is a well thought out bag!

Got my k2 2000 this morning. Have owned and used Mystery Ranch and Kifaru packs. This pack is the best daypack of all. Built only for Hunters by Hunters. Everything you need, nothing you don’t. Fit right out of the box. Really well thought out. Will make a great day hunt and scouting pack. Thanks to Steve for going out of his way to make sure I got the pack before leaving on a two week trip. Best customer service in the business.

After receiving my K2 2000 pack I did a full inspection of it. I loaded it with 50 lbs and walked around the neighborhood with it. I am impressed to say the least. It is a solid pack, is extremely comfortable, and carries weight super well when adjusted to your body properly. The pack is bigger and roomier than I thought it would be after watching the video of it on the website. It is super light weight, comfortable, and is built out of quality materials. The hidden lid pocket is big (can fit both of my hands in there spread open) and is thick padded to protect crucial gear. The spotting scope stetchy pocket is also big and roomy and can fit alot of gear in there if you don’t want to use it for a spotting scope. The hip belt is extremely comfortable and forms to your body when cinched down (my favorite part of the bag) and the lumbar pad is perfect thickness. The cordura material feels thick and solid and not thin and flimsy like others yet is lightweight. The zippers are also solid I love them. I can already tell this bag will be able to take a good beating. The roll top is awesome and expands quite a bit. One can probably get away with doing 2-3 days out of this pack if you are a minimalist. I went from the Kuiu 3200 to the K2 2000 and I will never look back. I liked the kuiu but I absolutely love the exo 2000. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to get it bloody this season. Thank you exo mountain for creating this amazing pack!

I have put the new k2 2000 daypack to the test several times. The New k2 frame handles 80 lbs well. The slight flex in the frame moved with my back which prevented any pack rub on my back. The new 2000 bag is was perfect for my day hikes. Loaded with trail cams, a DSLR, 80mm angled spotter and rain gear the pack was the perfect size. Will throw the 5500 on the k2 this fall for an 8 day Colorado Archery Elk pack in. Solid gear by Exo!

I must say, I was pretty skeptial to pay more for a pack than I did on my hunting rifle, but I bit the bullet when they came out with the 2000 series as it is the size of a pack I was looking for for my day hunts and backpacking and their previous pack had such great reviews. I just received my pack last week and took it out on my first “break” in hike this weekend and couldn’t have been more impressed. This is hands down the best pack I’ve ever worn and will proove well worth the money spent when I am packing out elk quarters this fall. After completing a 15 mile hike with my 25 pound backpacking load I could hardly tell I had been carrying any weight. This pack distributes the load very well while hiking and was extremely easy to get it adjusted to fit me.

This pack fits all my backpacking gear (tent, sleeping bag, pad, misc. gear) and enough food and water for probably a 3 day trip for myself, and should work perfectly for my day elk hunting pack. Thanks for the great product.

Okay, this pack is friggin amazing. I bought the new K-2 frame and 2000 daypack with the hopes of being able to squeeze 2-3 days of gear in this pack. Holly cow I love the roll top. The hidden pocket is amazing, great for tags car keys cell phone etc. the rear stretchy pocket is huge. Yeah yeah I know it’s early but I currently am already packed up for the first week of archery elk season, minus my western mountaineering bag and I was able to fit everything in the 2000 with the help of adding the New top lid. I organized everything in the top lid that will stay in camp, so all I have to do when I get to my bivy site is unload the pack pop the top lid off compress the bag down and go hunt. Love this pack

Received my pack this Friday. I must admit, I am very impressed with this pack. I was skeptical of spending the amount of money this pack cost. I was always told, you get what you pay for and I am glad I brought this pack. I went from tensing to this pack…. what a world of difference! Easy to adjust and fit, carries weight very well, and no sore spots on my back. Both my bow and rifle can be strapped down and secured without any movement. I’m ready to load it up with some meat in about 2 months. I will be purchasing the 3500 bag in the future. Thanks for producing such a great pack!

AMAZING PACK! I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend that much money on a pack but I’m so glad I did. If I would have known how these packs would perform I would have bought one a lot sooner. I have packed out 2 elk and a deer with it and it’s like the pack is part of your back. The pack is simply the best I have ever used by far and I’ve used a lot of packs. Thank you Steve and the rest of the exo gang for producing a product that can take on anything a western hunter can throw at it.

I love this bag. It is super functional, high quality, and lightweight. It seems bigger than the specs too. I am very satusfied with my Exo 2000 Bag and I can’t wait to use it!

I have had this pack for a few weeks now and I’m extremely happy with the purchase so far. I love the features and the simplicity of the pack. I think the new frame is a substantial upgrade from the previous Skeleton Frame. The new K2 Frame isn’t super stiff and will rotate and form to how your body moves. I love how this pack is more of a day pack, but love that I can use this for longer trips when needed. Coming in at less than 4.5 lbs is absolutely phenomenal, considering the quality and the strength of the frame and pack. I just love the simplicity and versatility of this pack system. It is extremely quick and easy to remove the bag from the frame and decide on how you want to set it up when hauling meat or how you want to have it set up while hunting for the day. The reason I gave 4 stars is because I have not hauled any meat in it yet. I’m hoping to haul a Javelina out come February. I’m really impressed on how much this company has accomplished in the short time they have been around. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future.

This pack is the best pack I’ve ever owned-and I’ve run 100% custom “industry bests”. Simple, tough, comfortable, and it can flat out haul. I killed a muley buck two weeks ago in Idaho and deboned it and packed the whole buck out along with camp in one load. 2000 cubic inches gives a guy plenty of space, not to mention he/she can use the outside to strap and the extended top also ads added space. One can also run a lid with this pack too. Enjoy!

So I thought I had a pack that was pretty darn great. Then I got this exo mountain pack. Wow! I was wrong. It is in a whole other league than my previous pack. I hate fan boys but I think I might be an exo fan boy now. There are times I spend the extra money on high quality products only to wonder where the extra quality is . With these Exo packs the extra quality stands out. For such a young company they are leaping over competition and I can’t wait to see what else they produce.

If I had but one comment on improvement for this pack it would be the water bladder functionality/compatibility. The sleeve isn’t the most user friendly and is small, tight, and a little tricky to get a bladder into. It works and that is JMHO. With that said I still give this pack by far a 5 star rating and my search for the perfect pack system is over.

    Exceeded my expectations.
The adjustability of the pack makes fitting spot on.
Just the right size for a day pack, or an overnight if
the need arises. Great quality in the materials used.
    Thanks for the Wonderful Pack.

Best pack I have ever owed! I’ve had plenty of packs, but this one is by and large the most comfortable I’ve ever strapped on. I have hunted in -15 degree weather for mule deer and never a squeak or creak. I love the size and configuration, just enough space but not an overly bulky pack. Extremely light to boot! I would not hesitate to tell anyone this pack is the greatest day pack ever. Thank you EXO

First off, I am a fan of Exo Mountain Gear. I listen to the podcast, watch their videos, and appreciate their commitment to and passion for hunting. That said, I’m disappointed with this pack. The materials are solid and the craftsmanship on a made in the usa pack is great. The suspension and load carrying ability of Exo packs is excellent. On this pack in particular, I like the stretchy outside pocket for spotters – packs that require you to carry your spotter inside the pack are lame. The side stretch pockets are great. I’m a fan of the roll top design and it’s ability to extend for greater capacity is cool. I especially like that I can add the lid from another exo pack to this one to again increase capacity and provide additional storage options. When using the lid, I don’t typically roll up and buckle the roll top; I just loosely roll it and secure the lid over top it.

My main dislikes are as follows. First, the pack is too narrow. I know Exo is trying to make a streamlined non bulky pack. But if you have a water bladder, stuff in the interior mesh pocket and stuff in the interior fleece pocket, then getting things in and out of the pack is pretty difficult. My gear ends up on either side of the bladder or I’m stuffing things into the bottom, fighting the bladder and the gear in the mesh pocket. I would give up a bit of “streamlined” to gain easier access. I know there are side zips and I use those at times, but typically I need to stuff things into the pack and what’s the point of a top entry if it’s difficult to use. Second, the bladder tube is crap. It’s too tight and not secured at the bottom. I tore the one in my pack the second time I used it and ended up just cutting it out. I’m glad Exo added an interior bladder sleeve, but I’d rather have an elastic or mesh panel against the frame (inside the pack) instead of a loose tube. Next, the fleece compartment that is accessed from the exterior of the pack is too big and gets in the way of dealing with gear internally. It seems like it is a challenge to have a compartment like this and a roll top, so I get it, but I’m not psyched on the way this one works. Plus, the fleece collects leaves and twigs and detritus that now live inside that pocket and end up all over whatever I have in there. I don’t own anything that needs a fleece pocket – my phone is protected and my gps screen is not prone to damage from pack material. And now those items get scratched by leaves and junk that’s stuck to the fleece. Lastly, I’m not a fan of having to spend additional money for hipbelt pockets. Exo is not the only company guilty of this as it seems to have become standard in the hunting pack industry. These packs are extremely expensive and having to continue burning the credit card to get the things you want on a pack is frustrating. The rest of the backpack industry has gotten on board with including integrated hip belt pockets, the hunting industry needs to catch up (hunting, not necessarily tactical). People that use these pockets are the majority now and people who need to attach holsters or something else are the minority (that’s what chest holsters are for). Plus, integrated hip belt pockets are easier to use and don’t flop around or force you to fight zippers with one hand.

    Ok, that’s my $0.02.

Thanks for your honest review and feedback, we love to get constructive criticism as it allows us to continually improve our packs. In fact some of the issues you have we have already addressed and fixed for 2017. The top opening we made 2″ bigger and the water bladder holder is now a sleeve against the back panel. That being said you are spot on in that the 2000 is designed to be a small, streamlined pack. The roll top’s main intended use was just for the occasional time when you needed more space for gear and the large “U” zipper in the front is there to give you very easy access in and out of the bag. If you are consistently stuffing the pack full and needing the roll top we would highly suggest jumping up to a 3500.

I can understand your frustration with the fleece pocket but it has been a feature a lot of guys love, I personally put my expensive camera in there and it allows me not to have to pack a camera case and save weight. If you left the zipper open while hunting and got pine needles in there you should be able to pull the pocket inside out and get those out of there easily.

On the hipbelt pouches we agree those are nice when they are sewn in but we do have a lot of guys who put holsters, bear spray, aftermarket accessories on the belt. I would say the majority of our users do that so if we were to sew those on we would upset all of them. By not sewing them on there it allows more versatility in the pack, its always a balance that we have to weigh back and forth on every decision we make.
